Since 1991 The story of Chevaliers d’Argouges began in a pastry and chocolate shop opposite Coutances Cathedral in Normandy. Bernard MEISS, master chocolatier, passed on his expertise and talent to his son David and to Bertrand PIERRE. Together, they soon shared the ambition of offering their range of homemade chocolates to everyone in Normandy. The chocolate factory was established in 1991 in Gratot, in Lower Normandy. The Knights of yesteryear have become the Knights of good taste. We explore new flavours and create recipes that are sometimes traditional, sometimes exotic, but always made for everyone to enjoy. One of our main motivations is to offer our customers superior-quality products. Handcrafted in France The praline centres of our chocolates are made according to tradition. We start by cooking almonds, hazelnuts and sugar in large copper pans until caramelised. Once the mixture has cooled, it is ground into a fine powder known as “praline powder”. This is then mixed into melted chocolate, poured onto marble tables and cut with a guitar cutter. The same process is repeated for all our fillings. Only after this first step are our chocolates given their finest coating, made with chocolate containing cocoa butter only. Once coated, some are decorated with a variety of dried fruits, using a piping bag or a fork. Our motto: “Handcrafted with respect for quality ingredients.” Cocoa butter only * In France, the designation “chocolate made with cocoa butter only” certifies that the chocolates contain no vegetable fats.
