Publisher’s description Will Nuwan manage to master the Danthrakon? The world of the DANTHRAKON comic series In the mythical city of Kompiam... Nuwan, a human, is an apprentice cook in the household of a great magician. With the help of the lovely Lerëh, whom he has a bit of a crush on, he learns to read. But his forays into the library bring him face to face with a precious spellbook: the Danthrakon. The book’s magic seeps into him as its pages turn blank. Frightened, Nuwan doesn’t dare tell anyone. A terrible inquisitor is investigating the vanishing spellbook, while Nuwan hides from everyone the fact that ink has replaced his blood and tears… and that his urine is black. Terrified, he knows he can’t do anything without Lerëh’s help… Seven races live together in this album, in more or less perfect harmony. Humans Like Nuwan, our hero and apprentice cook, who dreams of learning to read and write, or the lovely Lerëh, a kind-hearted magic student. Bursus Rather benevolent plantigrades with powerful physiques. Nabires Quarrelsome dragonids, skilled at intrigue. Mandrioles Reptilians with poor eyesight, widely represented among intellectuals. Kobls The Kobls are by far the most numerous. They are rodents of varying sizes and builds: some struggle to climb onto a low table, while others come almost up to a human’s shoulders. Gifted with an undeniable knack for communication and, very often, a passion for numbers, they make excellent merchants. Kohatolas Amphibians whose leader, Rumbopöh, is a fine example of his people. Fuffs Like Tinpuz, they’re adorable pets: mischievous and very cuddly. A word from the writer and editorial director, Christophe Arleston “Danthrakon is a story I’d been carrying around with me for quite some time. The image of a ravenous spellbook taking hold of an apprentice cook was a powerful one, and I wanted a great artist to bring the story to life. Olivier Boiscommun was the obvious choice: we’ve known each other for a long time, but had never worked together. I persuaded him to change his usual technique in favor of a more traditional narrative style, which suited this story better. And my old accomplice Claude Guth joined us to work on the colors. This album was made with great pleasure, and we’re here to give readers even more of it!”
